Kacper Szelążek completed vocal studies in 2016, graduating from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, singing class of dr. hab. Artur Stefanowicz. He debuted on stage in 2013 singing the part of Nero in Moteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea, which he very successfully performed at Collegium Nobilium in Warsaw and in 2015 at Salle Franc Martin Auditorium in Geneva. In 2013, as the best young musician of the year, he received an offer from the Polish Radio to record works by Szymanowski and to represent Poland at the Young Talent Competition EBU in Bratislava (International Forum of Young Performers New Talent). Since that time, he has performed at (among other places) the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, Teatro Ristori in Verona, Teatro Thalia in Lisbon, Pushkin Museum Concert Hall in Moscow, Warsaw Chamber Opera, W. Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, Dramma per Musica Festival at the King Stanisław Augustus Theatre in the Royal Baths Park in Warsaw, and Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw. His repertoire includes such roles as Nero in Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea and Händel’s Agrippina, Bertarido in Händel’s Rodelina, Ariodante in Händel’s Ariodante, Eliogabalo in Cavalli’s Eliogabalo as well as oratorio parts, e.g. J.S.Bach’s passions, cantatas by Händel, Porpora, Vivaldi, and a wide repertoire of songs; he is the only countertenor in the world who performs three poems composed by K. Szymanowski to lyrics by P. Kasprowicz. In May 2016, Kacper Szelążek was honoured with the Carlo Maria Giulini award at the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw. His upcoming plans include the performances with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio (recital of opera arias), at the Opera in Amsterdam in La morted’Orfeo by Landini under the baton of Christophe Rousset and with the orchestra Les Talens Lyriques, and at the King Stanisław Augustus Theatre in Vivaldi’s Händel’s Giulio Cesare conducted by Paul Esswood, In 2019 he will have his debut at the Boston Early Music Festival in the newly discovered opera by A.Steffani entitled La libertacontenta singing the role Orlando (the opera will be recorded for the Erato label) and the role of Eunuco in La Finta Pazza conducted by Leonardo Garcia Alarcon at the Opera de Geneve, Opera Dijon, and Theatre de Versailles.
